Theoretical Framework

This module provides participants with knowledge and tools to ensure safety and protection in inclusive sports programmes, with a particular focus on women with migrant background or marginalized women. It also equips them with guidelines for responsible and ethical external communication, ensuring that the dignity and rights of all individuals involved in any activity are effectively protected.

Learning Objectives

  • Define safeguarding in sport and explain its relevance in inclusive mentoring programmes with women with migrant background and other vulnerable groups.
  • Recognise the different types of risks (physical, emotional, digital) and vulnerabilities that can arise in sports and mentoring settings.
  • Apply safeguarding standards, protocols, and good practices in their own organisation or mentoring practice.
  • Explain the ethical principles of external communication in relation to safeguarding and the representation of vulnerable groups.
  • Demonstrate the correct use of informed consent and safe handling of images, stories, and personal data in external communication.
  • Integrate safeguarding and external communication principles to design safer, more empowering mentoring and sports programmes.
  • Identify useful tools, resources, and guidelines that can support them in implementing safeguarding and ethical communication in their professional roles.
