Romania Hosts First MOTM Local Workshop under Activity T3.6

23.2.2026

On February 11, 2026, the first local MOTM workshop took place in Romania, titled “Moving Together – How Can We Support the Integration of Migrant Women through Sport and Mentoring?”. Forty-three professionals and volunteers participated, including teachers, coaches, NGO representatives working with Ukrainian refugee women, counsellors, and future mentors, all committed to fostering inclusion through sport.

Facilitated by Prof. Mihai Androhovici and Psychologist Maria Adriana Nichitean, the session combined theory and practice to create a safe, open, and inclusive space for learning and reflection. Interactive activities, such as the Opportunities Map and hands-on exploration of the mentoring platform, encouraged participants to share experiences, identify barriers, and co-create practical solutions to support migrant women through sport-based, trust-driven mentoring.

Participants highlighted the workshop’s impact:

“Today I truly understood that sport is not just physical activity – it is a common language that builds trust and safety.”

“Mentoring can make the difference between isolation and belonging.”

By the end of the session, many attendees expressed a strong willingness to become mentors, recognizing that their involvement represents active community engagement, personal growth, and a contribution to a more inclusive society.

Following this first successful workshop in Romania, the rest of the MOTM partner organisations will implement their local workshops between February and April 2026, continuing to disseminate the project’s learning outcomes and strengthen the European network of inclusive sport-based mentoring initiatives.
