On April 22, 2026, we took part in a joyful and welcoming Scouting Day at Kontula’s Kelkkapuisto.
The event brought together immigrant mothers, young people and children to explore the world of scouting in a fun and inclusive way 🌿
Participants from our the Sportti Startti project joined the event and had the chance to try different scouting activities through an engaging and active trail. Everything was provided on site, making it easy for everyone to participate. The program took place outdoors and the atmosphere was warm, lively, and full of smiles. Tea/ coffee and small snacks created a nice moment to pause and connect.
Throughout the event children and adults played, ran, laughed and learned new things together. It was not only about discovering scouting as a hobby but also about spending meaningful time as families and meeting new people!
The feedback we received was very heartwarming! Families shared that they had a lot of fun together- playing, moving and laughing. Many appreciated the opportunity to meet new people and expressed their wish for more similar events in the future. There was also interest in additional activities, such as knotting, making food and fire safety training for families.
It was a truly enjoyable experience for everyone involved. Events like this show how powerful it can be when communities come together to create spaces where everyone feels welcome, active and included.
