On March 8th 2026, we took part in the International Women’s Day march in Helsinki together with many other people supporting women’s rights and equality.

The event started at Rautatientori in the city center; the weather was very nice for early March; sunny and warm. Many women and supporters came, and the atmosphere was positive and united.

The theme of the march was "Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls".

Before the march started, we listened to a few captivating and motivating speeches about equality and the rights of women. Then the march began, and we walked together through the city center. During the march many people were holding posters with different slogans supporting equality and women’s rights. Our Monaliiku group also joined the crowd. Our dress code was black and pink, but the most important colour was the one we all shared inside - the colour of solidarity and equality.

During the march, our colleague and coordinator Margareta called out the slogans. She shouted:

“What do we want?”

And the people around us answered together: “Equality for all!” Then she asked: “When?” And everyone shouted back - “Now! Now! Now!”

It was a great experience to be part of such a large event and to stand together for equality!
