During the past weeks, we had a very special collaboration in our Elämäni kunnossa (Fit4Life) groups.
Students from Metropolia came to plan and lead different sessions for our participants in Vallila, Kannelmäki, Vuosaari and Leppävaara.
Elämäni kunnossa is our project that supports the health and well-being of immigrant women. We move together, learn together and support each other in a safe and friendly environment. This time, the Metropolia students brought new ideas, energy and knowledge to our groups.
Each session had a different topic, but all of them were practical, interesting and easy to understand.
In Vallila, we talked about sleep and recovery. We learned what sleep is, why it is important, and what can make it difficult. Many participants shared their own experiences about stress, daily routines and challenges. We also learned simple ways to improve sleep, like having a regular rhythm and calming evening routines.
In Kannelmäki, the topic was nutrition and relaxation. We discussed healthy eating habits, hydration and vitamins. There were also fun activities with fruits and vegetables. After that, we practiced relaxation through breathing and light exercises. One important message stayed with us: “I am important. My health is important”.
In Leppävaara, we focused on movement and well-being. We learned how physical activity supports the heart, improves mood and helps us feel more energetic. We also talked about how moving together can reduce loneliness and create a sense of belonging.
In Vuosaari, the session was about women’s health. We learned about breast self-examination and why it is important to know our own body. The session was very useful, practical and meaningful for all participants.
All sessions were interactive and engaging! Our participants were active, open and willing to learn new things.
The atmosphere in every group was warm, supportive and friendly.
These sessions mean a lot for our Elämäni kunnossa participants and for Monaliiku. It was a great collaboration, and we truly appreciate the work of the Metropolia students.
We would like to say a big thank you and we are looking forward to future cooperation!
